One problem solved

The problem parking lot at Liberty and Smithfield is no longer a problem. The entire lot has been fenced in, presumably so they can start construction on the African American Cultural Museum. Also gone are the planters, which had been serving as de facto park benches.

So the guys who have been running drugs and hookers out of that lot will have to find a new spot.

Hey, I'm a little unclear on something. The last time you expressed concern about this parking lot you said in the comments that you don't live in the neighborhood. That makes me wonder why you're so fired up about the activities there. You have also posted almost exclusively on the Liberty Avenue corridor. Do you work in the neighborhood? Do you have a close friend or relative who lives in the neighborhood? Did you know that Republican Pittsburgh Mayoral Candidate Mark DeSantis lives just down the street from the parking lot in question? Although come to think of it, you also said in the comments that you liked my suggestion of raising the parking lot and general Liberty Avenue decline with DeSantis as a possible campaign issue. So perhaps you're already familiar with the guy.

I don't live Downtown but I work there and happen to wind up in that area fairly often, sometimes after dark. I don't know if I'm "fired up" about it, just commenting.

how many "african-american cultural museums" do there need to be. there are at least 5 or 6 in PA and in nearby states.
why cant african-american 'culture' be incorporated into american culture. its a sub-culture, after all, like cajon, the hispanic culture of texas, the germans of wisconsin, etc.

6th and Liberty is also bad. I used to run Palate Bistro and there was a welfare check cashing place next door.

I tried to have outdoor seating, but there was a long line of blacks right on top of my customers.
